Getting to New Hall, Winchester College
Arriving by car?
There is limited parking in the streets near New Hall. Your best option is to use one of the car parks off Chesil Street/Bar End Road. The nearest are about a 10-minute walk away:

From this car park walk along Chesil Street. Turn right into Wharf Hill. Bear right onto College Walk and straight ahead to Havers Walk (called New Hall Drive on some maps). At the end of Havers Walk you will find Black Gate, the entrance to New Hall;

From this car park walk along Bar End Road. Turn left into Wharf Hill. Bear right onto College Walk and straight ahead to Havers Walk (called New Hall Drive on some maps). At the end of Havers Walk you will find Black Gate, the entrance to New Hall.

Walking from the High Street?

Head for the Christmas Market in the Cathedral’s Inner Close.

At the far side of the Close is the Priors Gate beside Cheyney Court (picturesque Elizabethan timber-framed buildings). Exit Priors Gate into St Swithun’s Street.

Turn immediately left through the arch of Kingsgate and left again into College Street.

At the end of College Street at the road barrier (on the map above), turn right into College Walk and right again into Havers Walk.

Black Gate (the entrance to New Hall) is ahead.
Do you have limited mobility?
Arrange to be dropped off at Black Gate. There is level access (no stairs) from Black Gate into the foyer and auditorium.
If you cannot manage stairs to the tiered audience seating or if you are a wheelchair user, please email membership@winchestercommunitychoir.com to reserve floor level seating or a wheelchair space. Tell us how many adjacent seats are required for other members of your party.
