Rob Bartholomew's arrangement is in four parts (SATB). There are seven short verses and a chorus after each.
The French composer Francis Poulenc wrote settings of traditional folk-rhymes, Chansons Francaises, towards the end of World War II. According to his biographer Henri Hell, the melodies are the composer's own, although one or two have become so absorbed into French folklore that they have virtually turned into folk songs. Les Tisserands is one of them.
