Performers' page

This page is for members of Winchester Community Choir and for members of the two guest choirs that will be performing with us at our Christmas Concert on Tuesday 16 December 2025.

A warm welcome if you are visiting from Andover Museum Loft Singers or TakeNOTE Chamber Choir.

Tickets

Singers taking part in the concert are admitted free of charge (of course!).

Our audiience can buy tickets in advance, priced £12 (£8 for children under 13), at our WHATS ON page. Please share this link with friends and family: www.winchestercommunitychoir.com/whats-on.

The ticket price includes an interval drink - mulled wine or a soft drink. If you're singing in part 2, go easy on the sauce!

The venue

The venue for the concert is New Hall, Winchester College. Parking at the venue is very limited. Click on this button to download directions and advice about parking.

New Hall has an audience capacity of 350, seated in the balcony and on raked seating. A further 120 seats will be placed in the auditorium at floor level in front of the raked seating (not shown in the pictures below). We will reserve the 120 floor-level chairs for choir members and sell only the raked seating and balcony seats to our audience.

There will be three-tiers of staging in the performance area. The third tier has a safety rail. The staging will not accommodate the whole of WCC, but there is sufficient space in front and
around it for the whole choir. TakeNOTE and AMLS are smaller choirs and may decide not to use the staging.

Rooms will be available backstage where singers can stow coats and belongings.

For those who don't know New Hall, here are some photos. The first photo is taken from the performance area looking towards the raked seating: the second photo is from the back of the hall towards the performance area:

Fundraising

All WCC concerts are fundraising events for good causes. The Martin Read Foundation is the charity we will be supporting on this occasion.

Martin Read was a Hampshire-based composer and educator. He died suddenly in 2012 at the age of 53. His wife Beccy set up the Martin Read Foundation to support young composers and to bring playing, singing and hearing contemporary music to a wider audience,
Find out more about the Foundation HERE.

Martin Read taught many performers and composers who are making their living as professional musicians today. For example, he taught Anna Tabbush at Alton College. Many singers taking part in this concert will know Anna or will have sung her arrangements and compositions.
